June 22 (UPI) -- Former Kentucky point guard De'Aaron Fox signed with HyperX this week as a gaming headset ambassador.

The projected top-5 pick in Thursday's 2017 NBA Draft joins a HyperX influencer team including former Los Angeles Lakers star Rick Fox, Gordon Hayward and Boston Celtics and Detroit Renegades owner Jonas Jerebko.

Fox will exclusively use the gaming headsets during long gaming sessions. He will also wear them when he streams his favorite games on Twitch, including: Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Clash Royale.

The All-American loves gaming and plays NBA2K, Dragon Ball Z, Need for Speed, Madden, UFC and more titles.

"I'm as passionate about gaming as I am basketball and thrilled to be a part of the HyperX team," Fox said in a release. "I need quality gaming gear to keep me performing at my best."

Catalyst Sports and Media, a basketball and eSports advisory agency, represents Fox.

The speedy floor general is currently projected as the No. 5 overall pick by DraftExpress.com. The Sacramento Kings currently hold that pick.

Fox told Sports Illustrated last week that he plays video games for up to six hours per day. He also has an E-Sports gaming chair.

A video game producer told The Undefeated this week that Fox is good enough to play video games professionally.

"I hate losing, and that's in everything: video games, basketball, anything," Fox told The Undefeated. "I was always competitive from the time I was 10 years old to where I am now. I actually told some of the developers for Need for Speed that it's actually the only game I broke a control over."

Fox said he enjoys gaming to keep his mind off of basketball.

"We're thrilled to sign De'Aaron to the HyperX family," said HyperX influencer marketing manager Dustin Illingworth in a release. "His extraordinary skill on the court and remarkable passion for gaming will elevate awareness of the HyperX brand among both gamers and traditional sports fans alike."
