Cheeks was waiting on test results and "doing well" Thursday, according to a team official. The official said the team won't release any more information until Cheeks' test results are known.

The 60-year-old Cheeks has spent six seasons as an Oklahoma City assistant, first under Scott Brooks and now with Billy Donovan.

Cheeks, who played 15 NBA seasons, is a beloved former player in Philadelphia after being part of the 76ers' 1983 NBA title team. He was a four-time All-Star during his 11 seasons with the 76ers from 1978-89.

Cheeks has served as a head coach three times, compiling a 305-315 record in parts of nine seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, the 76ers and the Detroit Pistons.

He was nominated for induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in December.
