May 25 (UPI) -- If J.R. Smith makes a half-court shot in Boston, what happens 640 miles away?
The Cleveland Cavaliers mascot answers back at Quicken Loans Arena with a half-court heave of his own, of course.
In a romper.
Yes, the male-romper (RompHim?) has taken to mascots.
The Cavaliers guard known for his ability to hit low-percentage long-distance shots tried out one from the Celtics logo Thursday at TD Garden. He stood at half-court and put the ball in his right hand. Smith then tossed the ball underhanded toward the hoop before it swished through the net.
"Nailed it. #DefendTheLand," the Cavaliers wrote in a tweet.
Moondog, the Cavaliers' mascot, impressed fans back in Cleveland at a watch party hosted at the home arena. The dog-costumed character put his back to the basket and heaved the basketball over his head from half-court. That shot also swished.
"Meanwhile back at our @BudLight Watch Party at @TheQArena.... ," the Cavaliers wrote in a tweet of the video.
Moondog wore a black romper for the shot.
Smith was a bit more underwhelming during the actual game. He had just three points and failed to make a 3-pointer at the midway point in the third quarter Thursday in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics.

Smith averaged 7.2 points through the first four games of the series while shooting 6-for-12 from 3-point range and .579 from the field. Smith had logged the least game time of the Cavs' starters by nearly 30 minutes.
