Jordan's United States men's basketball squad won the gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, Calif. The Bob Knight coached team was the final amateur team from the United States to win a gold medal in men's basketball. The squad featured four of the five 1984 consensus first-team All-Americans in Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Wayman Tisdale and Sam Perkins.

The team also featured Knight's Indiana guard Steve Alford, Vern Fleming, Joe Kleine, Jon Koncak, Chris Mullin, Alvin Robertson, Jeff Turner and Leon Wood.

Charles Barkley, John Stockton, and Johnny Dawkins were among the big names who didn't survive the final roster cuts.

Coach Knight's squad went 8-0 in the tournament and averaged 95.4 points per game, compared to 63.3 points from its opponents. Jordan played on the team after winning the National Championship with North Carolina.
