Charlotte Hornets PG Kemba Walker undergoes arthroscopic surgery on knee

Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, the team announced Wednesday.

The Hornets said the 27-year-old Walker had a "minor arthroscopic procedure" that will require approximately six weeks of recovery time.

Last May, Walker had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. The Hornets gave Walker a four-year, $48 million extension in October 2014.

In his sixth season in Charlotte, Walker averaged a career-high 23.2 points, 5.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 34.7 minutes in 79 games in 2016-17.

Walker was named to 2017 Eastern Conference All-Star team, the first NBA All-Star appearance of his career. The University of Connecticut product has appeared in 443 career games (398 starts) for Charlotte, averaging 18.4 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 33.9 minutes per contest.

Walker was selected by Charlotte with the ninth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
