His younger sister, 22-year-old Chyna Thomas, died following a single-vehicle accident in Federal Way, Wash., on April 15.

This will be Thomas' second trip home since his sister's death. He traveled to Tacoma for two days after Game 2 to be with his family and friends.

The top-seeded Celtics lead the eight-seeded Bulls 3-2 and can clinch the best-of-seven first-round series with a victory Friday night. If Chicago wins, Game 7 will be played in Boston at on Sunday afternoon. Sunday also could be the start of the Eastern Conference semifinals if both the Boston-Chicago and Washington-Atlanta series are completed Friday night.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens previously said he would like to give teammates the opportunity to attend the funeral for Thomas' sister if the schedule allowed, and the organization will be represented at the funeral, a source told ESPN.
