March 23 (UPI) -- You know him for his high-flying hoop heroics and commercial cameos.

But Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin showed off his acting versatility Thursday night against the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center.

With 5:33 remaining in the third quarter, Griffin turned up the theatrics against Mavericks guard J.J. Barea.

With the Mavericks leading 63-58, Chris Paul dribbled up the court. DeAndre Jordan pulled off a high screen at the 3-point line, sandwiching Barea between himself and Griffin. Barea took exception to the move, shoving Griffin away.

But Griffin added a little oomph to the defense, contorting his upper body backwards and then flailing back to his feet. Barea was ejected for the shove and assessed a flagrant-2 foul. He received a standing ovation as he left the court.
