San Antonio Spurs C Pau Gasol to miss 6 weeks after hand surgery

San Antonio Spurs center Pau Gasol underwent surgery on Friday to repair a broken bone in his left hand, according to published reports.

Gasol, 36, fractured the fourth metacarpal in the hand in pregame warm-ups prior to Thursday's game against the Denver Nuggets.

The Spurs haven't announced a timetable for his return but Gasol is expected to be back within six weeks.

The six-time All-Star is averaging 11.7 points and 7.9 rebounds in his first season with the Spurs.
