Winnipeg Jets recall G Ondrej Pavelec, place D Ben Chiarot on IR

The Winnipeg Jets recalled goaltender Ondrej Pavelec from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League and retroactively placed defenseman Ben Chiarot on injured reserve with an upper-body injury on Tuesday.

Pavelec, 29, is making his first stint with the Jets this season after spending the previous five seasons with the team. He posted a 2.78 goals against average and a .917 save percentage in 18 games with Manitoba this season.

The Jets (20-23-4) are hoping the veteran netminder will help solve their goaltending woes. Winnipeg has dropped four straight games.

In 371 career games, Pavelec 148-154-47 with a 2.85 GAA and a .907 save percentage. Last season, he was 13-13-4 with a 2.78 GAA and a .904 save mark in 33 games.

Chiarot, 25, totaled six assists in 43 games with the Jets before sustaining the injury.
