OAKLAND, Calif., May 25 (UPI) -- Kevin Durant? Check. Russell Westbrook? Check. But Andre Roberson? The Golden State Warriors probably didn't enter the Western Conference Finals targeting the 24-year-old guard as a top defensive assignment.
Now he's making the Warriors pay. Roberson scored a career-high 17 points Tuesday in the Oklahoma City Thunder's Game 4 win. He stretched out the Warriors' small lineup as the Thunder beat its opponent at its own game.
"Definitely felt disrespected," Roberson told Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman. "I'm a basketball player, man. I can go out there and do it all."
Roberson hit three 3-pointers in the Thunder's Game 3 victory. Now his team has a 3-1 series lead and the best team in regular-season league history on the ropes.
Roberson was the No. 26 selection by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2013 NBA Draft. This season, he averaged 4.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in 70 games for Thunder.
"It's funny," Thunder coach Billy Donovan told the media after game 4. "After Game 2 people are saying to me: 'Is this guy going to even play anymore?' Andre's a good basketball player and I think sometimes the things that go missing with him is he makes winning plays."
Following the Thunder's 118-94 victory, the team takes on the Warriors in Game 5 at 9 p.m., Thursday, May 26 at Oracle Arena.
