Toronto Raptors' Bismack Biyombo lied about permission for finger wag

By Alex Butler

TORONTO, May 24 (UPI) -- Almost as good of a story as the Toronto Raptors' resurgence is the play of center Bismack Biyombo.

Something that came along with Biyombo's blocks and defensive intensity was a familiar finger-wag. Biyombo claimed that he had permission to use the legendary celebration from Dikembe Mutombo himself.

But Mutombo says that's not so.

"I don't know when that conversation took place," Mutombo told TMZ Tuesday. "Him and I need to talk this summer."

"He claims in the newspaper and everywhere he said I gave [permission] to him," Mutombo told TMZ. "I said, Did I [give it]? Was it family? Was it a cosign? But you know what, he's a young man, [so] I let him enjoy the fame. He's making me famous. I will see him in the Congo this summer, so him and I will talk back home with nobody around us."

The Hall of Famer was a four-time NBA defensive player of the year and eight-time All-Star. Mutombo ranks No. 2 All-Time in blocks, behind Hakeem Olajuwon, whom Biyombo also claimed he conversed with.

Biyombo told Bruce Arthur of the Toronto Star that he felt like he "got the license from Mutombo" for the move.

Biyombo has seven blocks in his last two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
