OAKLAND, Calif., May 1 (UPI) -- Struggle still isn't part of the Golden State Warriors' vocabulary, but there is a noticeable void in its performance.

The Warriors haven't been the same record-setting stars without NBA MVP Stephen Curry, after losing him to a sprained MCL. But Curry could be nearing a return.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said that although Curry is unlikely to play Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers, he could play in a scrimmage later this week, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

"Before he's going to play a game, he has to be on the floor in a 5-on-5 situation, which means it's pretty slim that he would be out there in Game 2," Kerr told the Mercury News.

"Maybe Thursday, Friday there's a chance we could get him on the floor in a scrimmage situation, but it's all speculation."

Curry participated in light drills a week after going down to his injury in Game 4 of the teams first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets. Curry, 28, averaged 30.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds this season for the Warriors.
