May 14 (UPI) -- Early American League MVP favorite Mookie Betts made a stunning diving catch in the fourth inning of the Boston Red Sox's 5-3 win against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Betts performed the snare Sunday at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
The Red Sox led 3-0 in the bottom of the frame when Richard Urena stepped into the box with two outs down. The Jays' shortstop fouled off Drew Pomeranz's first offering, before hacking away at an 84.9 mph cutter.
Urena made contact and sent a fly ball toward the right field line. The ball carried and was about to drop onto the ground before Betts bolted over and dove, sticking out his gloved left hand and making the grab as his body slid several feet. Betts calmly got back up to his feet and jogged back to the Red Sox's dugout after making the jaw-dropping catch.

Betts ran 88 feet at a speed of 29.9 feet per second to make the five-star catch, according to Statcast. He had a 17 percent catch probability.
Boston added another run on an RBI single from J.D. Martinez in the top half of the next inning. Justin Smoak brought in two runs on an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth frame. Russell Martin brought in the Blue Jays' third run on an RBI single in the same inning.
Xander Bogaerts plated the Red Sox's final run with an RBI ground out in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Betts went 2-for-4, with two strikeouts, a walk and a run scored out of the leadoff spot. The two-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner is now hitting a league-high .360 on the season, with 13 home runs and 27 RBIs.
