Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona will miss Tuesday's game against the Texas Rangers due to an illness, the team announced.

Francona, 58, was hospitalized overnight and underwent several tests at the Cleveland Clinic. The Indians said doctors "have ruled out any major health issues."

Francona departed Monday's contest early and was taken to the hospital. He was reportedly experiencing a rapid heartbeat rate and dizziness.

Francona was released from the hospital Tuesday and was resting at home.

Monday marked the second time in two weeks that Francona left a game early with heartbeat and dizziness issues. He also had an episode during a June 13 game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On that occasion, the Cleveland Clinic treated Francona for dehydration.

Francona is expected to return for Wednesday's game. Bench coach Brad Mills was slated to manage Tuesday against the Rangers.

The Indians said Francona will be monitored over the next several weeks by doctors.

Francona also missed a game last season when he was suffering from chest pains.

Francona hasn't suffered any loss of personality as the team included this lighthearted comment in the statement:

"Francona also wanted to express that medical personnel have not yet ruled out an allergy to bench coach Brad Mills."
