CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu left Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals with a mild right hip flexor strain sustained while attempting to backhand a ground ball in the top of the fifth inning.

After failing to field the ball cleanly, Abreu remained on the ground before being examined by team trainers.

Abreu, who had an RBI double in the first inning and another double in his next at-bat, was able to limp off the field. He was replaced at first base by Todd Frazier.

Abreu, who is considered day-to-day by the team, will be re-evaluated in Detroit when the White Sox visit the Tigers this weekend.
