LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Rich Hill finally emphasized the meaning of his first name Monday, when he re-signed a lucrative deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The left-handed pitcher agreed to a three-year, $48 million pact with the team he won 12 games for last season. Hill held a 2.12 ERA and fanned 129 batters in 20 games for the Dodgers.

Hill made the deal official when he passed his physical Monday morning, according to MLB.com. The 36-year-old turns 37-years-old in March.

Peter Gammons reported this weekend that "one team who sought Rich Hill" thought he had a deal with the Dodgers for 3 years and $40 million.

As ESPN's Buster Olney noted, Hill has made about $9 million in his career through last season. Hill began his career in 2005 with the Chicago Cubs. After four seasons with the Cubs, he joined the Baltimore Orioles. He later joined the Boston Red Sox for three seasons before landing with the Cleveland Indians. Hill spent the next six seasons with six different teams, including the Indians.
