San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy was hospitalized in Miami on Monday after feeling ill and will be kept overnight for observation, the team announced.

With Bochy sidelined, bench coach Ron Wotus will act as the Giants' manager in the series opener versus the Marlins.

"This morning, Giants manager Bruce Bochy was admitted to the University of Miami Hospital after feeling ill," the Giants said in a statement. "He is being checked at the hospital and will be monitored overnight. He is resting comfortably and is expected to return (Tuesday)."

Bochy had two stints placed in his heart in February 2015, although it is unclear whether this hospitalization is related to that.

Bochy, 61, is in his 10th season as San Francisco's manager and his 22nd campaign as a major-league manager. He guided the Giants to World Series championships in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

San Francisco began play Monday in first place in the National League West, one game ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, the Giants have struggled since the All-Star break, owning a 6-15 record.
