Chicago Cubs' Kris Bryant plays prank on college team

MESA, Ariz., March 18 (UPI) -- Jaws dropped and doubt set in as members of the Mesa Community College baseball team watched a new transfer take batting practice.

But the new guy, named Roy, had a very interesting background.

He was actually Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant.

Bryant teamed up with Red Bull Thursday to "transfer" into the school and pull the prank. Mesa manager Tony Cirelli told players that they would be losing at-bats and pitching time because of the new transfer, but he could get them over the hump to win another championship.

The Thunderbirds weren't happy until Bryant revealed his true identity after a few bombs out of the park.

My Transfer Prank

Red Bull helped me “transfer” into the Mesa Community College Athletics baseball program yesterday. How long do you think the prank lasted before my new teammates figured out I wasn’t Roy? Watch it all go down at win.gs/1SYmZbv

Bryant, 24, was the No. 2 pick in the 2013 amateur draft. He had 26 home runs and 99 RBI in his rookie season for the Cubs.
