Feb. 24 (UPI) -- An unnamed spectator left the Honda Classic Friday with an autographed golf ball and a gruesome facial injury.

PGA Tour rookie C.T. Pan was lining up to tee off on the 18th hole and had no idea what was about to happen. His second shot on the hole was errant, after it hooked left of the green and hit a male fan in the head.

Blood spilled onto the man's shirt and oozed down his cheeks.

"Hit a spectator on 18 today and watched him fell. Worst feeling I have ever had. Hopefully he is fine. @TheHondaClassic," Pan tweeted.

Pan managed to score a birdie on the hole. He has carded a 66 and 68 to place near the top of the tournament leaderboard.

A Palm Beach Post photographer captured the incident.
