VERO BEACH, Fla., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- It's good to be at the top of the golfing world.
This weekend, Jordan Spieth, the top golfer on the PGA Tour, appeared in the Grapefruit Pro-Am at Vero Beach Country Club in Florida.
Spieth joined his friend, country music star Jake Owen, at the event.
"I've lived here my whole life, and I've never seen this many people, ever, walk a golf course, especially here at Vero Beach Country Club," Owen told Golf Week. "For them to see him play is a huge deal. And it's a huge deal to me that he took time out of his obviously busy schedule to do this."

During the final round, Spieth had some fun when he blasted a drive in the likeness of 'Happy Gilmore.'
"We became buddies about four years ago out at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am when he was just getting started, he hadn't even got his tour card yet, and he was just such a good kid," Owen told TCPalm.com.

"We hit it off and became good friends. I've helped him with his charity event for a few years and I told him he owed me a favor one day and this happens to be that favor."

Spieth is set to compete in the 2016 Hyundai Tournament of Champions on Jan. 7 and the 2016 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship Jan. 21
