Oklahoma Sooners RB Rodney Anderson passes lie detector test, avoids rape charge

Oklahoma leading rusher Rodney Anderson has avoided criminal charges after being accused of rape earlier in the month of December, the Cleveland County District Attorney announced Thursday.

Anderson, a sophomore running back, was accused of rape by a female university employee earlier this month, who filed a protection order against him. The women alleged the incident occurred in the early hours of Nov. 16.

Anderson denied the charges and Anderson's lawyer said the allegations were "patently false." Anderson also passed a lie detector test.

This season, Anderson has rushed for 960 yards and 11 touchdowns and has caught 16 passes for 283 yards and five touchdowns for the Sooners.

Oklahoma (12-1), ranked No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings, will face third-seeded Georgia in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day to earn a spot in the CFP National Championship game against either No. 1 Clemson or No. 4 Alabama.
