Tim Tebow's Florida OC Dan Mullen nearly moved to tears talking about QB

By Alex Butler

Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen became emotional Saturday when talking about Tim Tebow, a player he coached as an offensive coordinator at Florida.

Mullen appeared on SEC Nation before LSU played Mississippi State at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss. He sat down on the set with Marcus Spears and Tebow.

"Can I say one thing about Timmy?" Mullen asked Spears. "Timmy, because I know Timmy. You guys all know Tebow, I know Timmy. As a coach, you know you coach the game of football. People think you get these highs and lows. Tonight you are going to see somebody at the extreme high and somebody at an extreme low as a coach. That's not really what it's all about."

"It's about young people...helping them develop in life. Helping them go live their dreams."

"I'm so proud of what he's done. You see his foundation. All of the things Tim does around the world for people. So proud of him. I'm happy just to be even a small part of helping him accomplish those goals."

Mullen was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Florida from 2005 through 2008. The Gators won two BCS National Champions and Tebow won the 2006 Heisman Trophy during that stretch.

"You all about to make me cry man," Spears said on the set.

Last week, Tebow posted messages on his Twitter in support of a World War II veteran and those affected by Hurricane Irma.

While Tebow provided an underwhelming performance playing minor league baseball for the New York Mets this year, his appearance in road games accounted for more than 2,500 extra fans per game, according to Baseball America.
