Michigan State University police have requested arrest warrants in its rape investigation of three MSU football players.

The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office confirmed the request in a news release on Thursday morning, saying that it "will review all of the available evidence and information and make a review decision in the short-term future."

The university last week announced that three Michigan State football players had been suspended after allegations of sexual assault were made against them last month.

The three players were not officially named, but the university confirmed that recruiting director Curtis Blackwell was on paid suspension earlier this week. Michigan State declined to say whether the suspension was related to the sex assault investigation.

According to the police probe, the university has launched its own Title IX investigation.
