Ohio State suspended redshirt freshman wide receiver Torrance Gibson for the season due to a violation of the university's student code of conduct.

Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said he does not agree with the school's punishment. Gibson is also suspended from school.

"It was not from the athletic department or football," Meyer said during his weekly press conference on Monday. "I disagree with it."

Meyer did not give a reason for his opposition to the discipline and the school has not commented on the nature of the violation.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Gibson was once a five-star quarterback prospect. He shifted positions after arriving on campus last year due to a logjam on the depth chart.

Gibson was making a case for being one of Ohio State's outside deep threats this season. He was suspended for a game for breaking a team rule during his redshirt season a year ago.
