Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett will start Saturday against Illinois after he served a one-game suspension, coach Urban Meyer announced Monday.

"If J.T. has a good week of practice, he'll get the start," Meyer said. "I think it's the right thing at this time."

Barrett sat out Saturday's 28-14 win over Minnesota after he was handed a one-game suspension following his arrest on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Cardale Jones started in Barrett's place against Minnesota, completing 12 of 22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. Jones added 65 yards and a score on the ground.

Jones started the first seven games of the season. Barrett regained the job and led the Buckeyes to a 49-7 win at Rutgers on Oct. 24.

Barrett was stopped at a Columbus, Ohio, police checkpoint near campus in the early morning hours on Oct. 31 during the team's bye week. Barrett was cited on a misdemeanor charge of operating a motor vehicle while impaired. He registered a blood-alcohol concentration just above 0.08, police said.

Barrett, a redshirt sophomore, also lost his scholarship for a term as part of his punishment handed down by Meyer.
