West Virginia coach high-fives TCU opponent during loss

By Alex Butler

FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Dana Holgorsen has some explaining to do after the West Virginia coach high-fived a TCU star during Thursday's 40-10 loss.

Horned Frogs quarterback Trevone Boykin passed for 388 yards, ran for 84 yards and score four times in the victory. But it was one play, where Boykin juked out the Mountaineers and was rewarded with an unusual gesture from Holgorsen, which caught the eye of everyone.

"He was literally standing right there, and he just started smiling," Boykin told ESPN. "I just put my hand up to give him a high-five, and he gave me one."

"It was kind of unreal."

Holgorsen said he chose the positive gesture over a negative reaction aimed at his team.

"He made one of the best plays I'd seen in a while," Holgorsen told ESPN. "He was right there, so I didn't know what the hell else to do. I could've started yelling at our guys, but what good is that going to do?"

Holgorsen piled on the compliments after the game in his opening statement, according to Yahoo Sports.

"With all due respect to Corey Coleman two weeks ago, Trevone Boykin is the best player in college football," Holgorsen said. "You can't tackle him. He's a phenomenal football player and I'm glad we'll never have to see him again."

Boykin, who finished fourth in Heisman voting last season, has completed 198-of-297 passes for 2,927 yards, 28 touchdowns and five interceptions this season. He has also rushed for 524 yards and six touchdowns for the 7-0 Horned Frogs.
