Judge considers dismissal of case against Alabama coach's daughter

TUSCALOOSA, Ala., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- An Alabama judge was considering whether to dismiss a case involving a fight between the plaintiff and the daughter of Alabama football coach Nick Saban.

Neither Kristen Saban nor her accuser, Sarah Grimes, was present in Tuscaloosa County court Tuesday.

Grimes sued Saban in June 2012 for injuries she sustained when the two had a physical confrontation in August 2010. The altercation concerned a remark Saban posted on her Facebook page after an night of drinking and an argument with Grimes.

Grimes claims the argument escalated to a fight that resulted in a broken nose and a concussion.

In a motion to dismiss the civil case Tuesday, Saban attorney Bob Prince argued Grimes was the aggressor and only sued Saban in hope of a lucrative out-of-court settlement. He added Grimes mixed prescription medicine with alcohol on the night in question and started the fight.

Grimes attorney Stephen Strickland said the fight began when Saban pushed Grimes.

Circuit Judge James Roberts Jr. ended the hearing after an hour, and took the matter under advisement, al.com said.
