Miles, a criminal justice graduate, was a star for the Gamecocks from 2009 to 2012.
The arrest stems from a Nov. 4 shooting incident in which Miles was wounded. He told investigators conflicting stories, first blaming the shooting on a friend, then on a stranger attempting to rob him, the arrest warrant said.
Miles later admitted he shot himself in a failed suicide attempt, the warrant said.
He turned himself in to authorities Tuesday, the Richland County Sheriff's Department said.
Miles appeared before a judge Tuesday and was released on a personal recognizance bond that will allow him to return to his home state of Georgia to live with his parents, the Columbia, S.C., newspaper The State reported.
