Details of the fatal crash were not released, but his death stunned the Akron program. "In all my years of coaching I have never known someone who loved and cared for his players more than Tank," head Coach Terry Bowden said in a written statement. "I have lost a best friend and I'm heartbroken."

Arrington followed Bowden to Akron from the University of North Alabama in 2012, the Akron (Ohio) Beacon Journal said. He also coached the Zips' offensive line.
