2 UGA players suspended as Bulldogs head to Gator Bowl

ATHENS, Ga., Dec. 24 (UPI) -- The University of Georgia will be missing two of its players when it takes on Nebraska in the Gator Bowl on New Year's Day, UGA said.

Safety Josh Harvey-Clemons has been suspended for the second time this season, the school said Monday, and cornerback Sheldon Dawson for the first time, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. UGA officials did not give any reason for the suspensions.

Harvey-Clemons' first suspension, which kept him out of the season opener, came when the sophomore admitted he had smoked marijuana last spring in his dorm. He had 66 tackles, one interception and five passes defended in the 11 games he started.

Dawson, also a sophomore, played in all 12 games of the regular season and was involved in 13 tackles. He had his first start against Georgia Tech, the closing game.

He has also become the team's most important kick-returner, averaging 21.9 yards.
