Foster missed three field goals in the 34-28 loss to their in-state rivals, which denied the Tide a shot at an undefeated season.
Coach Nick Saban pulled Foster in favor of freshman Adam Griffith when 'Bama had a chance to win the game with a 3-point kick on the final play of the game. Griffith missed the 57-yard attempt, which Auburn promptly returned more than 100 yards for the stunning winning touchdown.
The reaction from some Alabama loyalists was fairly over the top, Bleacher Report said Sunday. A stream of tweets from different fans at best warned Foster to leave town and get dumped by his girlfriend. At worst, they urged suicide, and warned he and his entire family would be killed.
Bleacher Report said Foster's own Twitter account was offline Sunday.
Other 'Bama fans and several players took to Twitter to deflect the damning criticism, AL.com said. Most of the messages said the game was lost by the entire team and blaming it on a single player was wrong.
