NASHVILLE, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- A 20-year-old California man said Wednesday he did not tamper with evidence related to the sexual assault of an unconscious Vanderbilt student in June.
Attorney Bernie McEvoy entered the plea of not guilty for his client, Miles Joseph Finley of Bermuda Pines, Calif., who did not appear at the hearing in a Nashville criminal court, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported.
Finley is free on $10,000 bond. He and Joseph Dominick Quinzio, 20, of Palm Springs, Calif., are charged with deleting electronic evidence.
Quinzio is fighting extradition from California.
The men are friends of Brandon Vandenburg, 20, of Indio, Calif., one of four former Vanderbilt football players each charged with five courts of aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery.
The others charged are Cory Batey, 19, of Nashville; Brandon Eric Banks, 19, from Brandywine, Md.; and Jaborian McKenzie, 18, from Woodville, Miss.
Vandenburg also faces one count of unlawful photography and tampering with evidence.
All four have pleaded not guilty and are free on bond.
Another former Vanderbilt football player, Chris Boyd, 21, of Roswell, Ga., has pleaded guilty to attempting to cover up the assault.
