STANFORD, Calif., Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Kevin Hogan passed for one touchdown and ran for another Saturday, allowing fifth-ranked Stanford to hold off No. 18 Washington 31-28.

Hogan managed just 100 passing yards on 12-of-20 efficiency but found Ty Montgomery on a 39-yard scoring strike just before halftime for a 17-7 Stanford lead.

The signal-caller gave the Cardinal (5-0, 3-0 Pac-12) a 10-point advantage with a 4-yard TD run in third quarter, but the Huskies struck back on Bishop Sankey's 15-yard scoring play, cutting the deficit to 24-21.

Tyler Gaffney then secured Stanford's victory with an 11-yard rushing score late in the third.

Keith Price -- who went 33-of-48 through the air for a career-high 350 yards, two TDs and an interception -- found Jaydon Mickens on a 1-yard scoring pass with 2:38 left in the game, but the Huskies (4-1, 1-1) could get no closer and went on to their first loss of the season.

Sankey carried the ball 27 times for 125 yards with two scores for Washington.
