ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Minnesota football Coach Jerry Kill has suffered a fifth epilepsy-related seizure in two years and was absent during Saturday's game, the school announced.
In a statement released before the Golden Gophers' game against 17th-ranked Michigan at Ann Arbor, the university's athletic department said Kill didn't make the trip.
"Minnesota football Coach Jerry Kill is at home in Minneapolis and will not be on the sideline for today's game against Michigan," it read. "Coach Kill was not feeling well on Friday morning and decided to meet the team in Ann Arbor on Saturday. He then suffered a seizure on Saturday morning and will remain at home in Minnesota for today's game."
Defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys filled in as acting head coach.
Kill has been sidelined five times by seizures since taking over as Minnesota coach in 2011, including during a game last month against Western Illinois.
