LINCOLN, Neb., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Ameer Abdullah scored two touchdowns Saturday to help lead No. 25 Nebraska past visiting Big Ten rival Illinois 39-19.
Abdullah churned out 225 yards for the Cornhuskers (4-1, 1-0 Big Ten), who out-gained Illinois (3-2, 0-1) with 521 yards of total offense to 372 yards.
Tommy Armstrong completed 8-of-13 passes for 135 yards and two touchdown passes to Quincy Enunwa and Kenny Bell.
Nebraska's defense shut out Illinois in the first quarter and did not allow a passing touchdown. The Illini got their three touchdowns on the ground 1-yard runs by Donovan Young and Josh Ferguson and a 38-yard run by Taylor Zalewski.
