INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be on the 2014 panel selecting college football playoff teams, insiders say.

USA Today quoted an anonymous source familiar with the selection who said Archie Manning, the Hall of Fame quarterback, is also on the committee.

The source said the group includes five athletic directors: Barry Alvarez of Wisconsin, Pat Haden of the University of Southern California, Jeff Long of Arkansas, Oliver Luck of West Virginia and Dan Radakovich of Clemson. At-large choices include former NCAA Executive Vice President Tom Jernstedt and former Big East Commissioner Mike Tranghese.

"It's an all-star cast," the source told USA Today.

Rice, whose father was a high-school athletics director in Birmingham, Ala., has an impressive resume in government and academia and a longstanding love of sports. She has said her dream job would be NFL commissioner.
