WEST POINT, N.Y., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Tyler Gaffney ran for two touchdowns and Kevin Hogan threw three touchdown passes Saturday to lead No. 4 Stanford past Army 34-20.

Gaffney gobbled up 132 yards rushing and Hogan hit three different receivers for TDs en route to a 188-yard passing performance for the Cardinal (2-0).

Ty Montgomery caught six passes for 130 yards and a TD. The Stanford defense limited Army (1-2) to two touchdowns, one of which came with 17 seconds left in the game.

Army's ground game clicked for 284; however the West Pointers only had 49 passing yards. Quarterbacks A.J.Schurr and Angel Santiago attempted 10 passes between them.

Schurr hit Edgar Poe from six yards out in the closing seconds. Army took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a pair of field goals by Daniel Grochowski, but Hogan erased the advantage with a 26-yard TD pass to Michael Rector with 32 seconds to play in the quarter that gave Stanford the lead for good
