COL FB: Wisconsin 45, Massachusetts 0

MADISON, Wis., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Melvin Gordon and James White combined for 286 yards and each scored a touchdown for No. 23 Wisconsin Saturday in a 45-0 rout of Massachusetts.

Gordon picked up 143 yards on 13 carries and White rushed 11 times for 143 yards for the Badgers (1-0), who amassed 393 yards on the ground and 598 total yards.

Joel Stave completed 9-of-17 passes for 197 yards, throwing two touchdown passes to Jared Abbrederis and also ran in a score himself.

The win came in the debut of Wisconsin head coach Gary Anderson. The Badgers took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and tacked on 21 in the third.

A.J. Doyle went 5-for-7 for 39 yards for UMass (0-1). Stace Bedell gained 70 yards on 20 carries.
