HOUSTON, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Jeremy Smith racked up 102 rushing yards and scored twice in the second half Saturday, propelling No. 14 Oklahoma State over Mississippi State 21-3.

Smith ran the ball 15 times for the Sooners (1-0), who opened the season with a stifling defensive effort.

J.W. Walsh went 18-of-27 for 135 passing yards and scored on a 1-yard TD run for Oklahoma State, picking up 125 rushing yards overall.

Tyler Russell completed 10-of-16 passes for 133 yards and an interception for the Bulldogs (0-1) before leaving in the third quarter after taking a hit to the head.
