ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Devin Gardner threw for a touchdown and rushed for two more Saturday, feuling No. 17 Michigan's season-opening 59-9 rout of Central Michigan.
Gardner completed 10-of-15 passes for 162 yards with two interceptions and picked up 53 rushing yards on seven carries as the Wolverines (1-0) got the 2013 season off to a good start.
Michigan's Fitzgerald Toussaint ran for 57 yards and scored twice on 14 carries while Thomas Rawls and Derrick Green also rushed for TDs in the one-sided affair.
Jeremy Gallon led Michigan's receiving corps with four catches for 47 yards and a score.
The Chippewas (0-1) were paced by Alex Niznak, who went 11-of-22 passing for 131 yards with an interception.
