Mauldin, who was riding his scooter without a helmet when he was hit by a car Tuesday, was listed in satisfactory condition, The (Louisville) Courier-Journal reported Wednesday.
He had earned a starting spot in Sunday's opening game against Ohio, but Coach Charlie Strong said Mauldin's status had yet to be determined. It appeared the junior player "had pain and soreness more than anything," Strong said
The coach said a decision would be made after doctors examined Mauldin Wednesday.
If Mauldin is unable to play, junior B.J. Dubose will take his place, Strong said.
