ATHENS, Ga., May 28 (UPI) -- University of Georgia safety Josh Harvey-Clemons, implicated in an on-campus marijuana incident, may miss the first game of the season, school policy says.
Harvey-Clemons, a sophomore, admitted marijuana use to campus police May 15 after they were called to investigate an odor of marijuana near his dorm room. Also present was sophomore tight end Ty Flournoy-Smith.
Flournoy-Smith, who was arrested on an unrelated misdemeanor charge in February, was advised to transfer to another school by football Coach Mark Richt, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday.
The university's Athletic Association's policy on marijuana use calls for a suspension of 10 percent of competition dates for a first-time violation, or one game in Harvey-Clemons' case, the newspaper said. The Bulldogs' first game of the season is Aug. 31 against Clemson.
