BATON ROUGE, La., April 29 (UPI) -- Louisiana State has suspended leading rusher Jeremy Hill following the player's arrest during the weekend.

Hill, 20, was arrested early Saturday after an off-campus alteration. He was charged with simple battery. The Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans said video of the incident appears to show Hill and another man striking a third man.

Hill led LSU in rushing last year as a true freshman. He ran for 755 yards and scored 12 rushing touchdowns, both team highs. LSU was 10-3 last season and ended up 12th in the final USA Today Coaches' poll

The Times-Picayune reported Hill was already on probation for an incident in January 2011.

LSU football Coach Les Miles, in a release, said he would let the incident go through the legal process before making additional comments.
