AUSTIN, Texas, March 13 (UPI) -- University of Texas wide receiver Cayleb Jones was suspended from the team after being charged with felony aggravated assault, football coach Mack Brown said.

Jones, 19, was arrested after allegedly punching Joseph Swaysland, a member of the school's tennis team, in an Austin nightclub on Feb. 22. Swaysland suffered a broken jaw in the incident, which was over Khat Bell, a member of the school volleyball team and a former girlfriend of Jones, police said.

In a statement Tuesday, Brown said Jones was "suspended from all team activities pending the completion of the legal process. Any further action will be handled at the conclusion of the legal process."

Jones was a freshman backup on the Longhorns team in 2012 and is among four receivers contending for a starting position, the Austin Statesman-American reported Wednesday.
