BOISE, Idaho, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Boise State may be having second thoughts about leaving the Mountain West Conference next fall, sources told ESPN.com.

University officials and the MWC have been having discussions about the possibility the Broncos would cancel their plan to jump to the Big East and remain in the conference.

The source said the discussions were based on the defection of Rutgers and Louisville from the Big East, which Boise State sees as diluting the television appeal of the Big East's football conference.

CBS.com reported the MWC has become more attractive to the Broncos due to a restructured television contract between the conference and CBS, which would be a potential financial windfall for Boise State even though the MWC would remain a non-BCS conference.

Boise State had no official comment on the report and remains on track to join a new western division of the Big East along with San Diego State, Houston, Central Florida, Memphis and Southern Methodist.
