COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Drew Basil kicked four field goals and the Ohio State defense shut down No. 20 Michigan in the second half Saturday for a 26-21 win and an undefeated season.
The win for Ohio State (12-0, 8-0 Big Ten) counted for nothing more than pride due to an NCAA one-year ban on post-season play.
Basil converted from 28 and 25 yards in the second half while the defense bottled up the Wolverines (8-4, 6-2) in their own territory for the entire half. The Buckeyes gains 396 total yards to 279 for the Wolverines.
Braxton Miller was 14-of-18 passing for 189 yards and a touchdown pass to Philly Brown late in the third quarter to give the Buckeyes a 17-14 lead.
Michigan's Devin Gardner threw for 171 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for a score but finished with minu-28 yards on the ground. Denard Robinson ran for a 67 yard TD late in the second quarter.
