COL FB: Virginia Tech 35, Pittsburgh 17

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Three touchdown passes by Tino Sunseri led Pittsburgh to its first win of the season Saturday with a 35-17 upset of No. 13 Virginia Tech.

Ray Graham ran for 94 yards and had three scores for Pitt (1-2), who led wire-to-wire and prevailed despite 111 yards in penalties.

Rushel Shell led the Panthers with 144 rushing yards and Sunseri went 19-of-28 for 283 yards in the air.

Pitt built a 21-0 lead before Cody Journell got the Hokies (2-1) on the board with a 32-yard field goal with 7:57 to play in the second quarter.

Virginia Tech's Logan Thomas had a rough day, completing 14-of-31 passes for 265 yards and three interceptions. Thomas hit Marcus Davis with an 85-yard touchdown play but the Tech running game stalled out with a paltry 28 yards on seven carries.
