LINCOLN, Neb., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Taylor Martinez completed 13-of-14 passes for 180 Saturday while leading No. 24 Nebraska to a 42-13 win over Arkansas State.
Nebraska (2-1) rolled to victory even though head coach Bo Pelini was taken to a Lincoln hospital at halftime for an undisclosed medical issue.
"As far as I know, all the news on Bo is good," Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne told the Lincoln (Neb.) Journal after the game. "Word back from the hospital is he is doing fine."
Martinez hit Kenny Bell for two touchdowns and ran in a 13-yard score himself for the Huskers, who led 28-3 at halftime and limited Arkansas State (1-2) to 286 total yards of offense.
Ryan Aplin was 16-of-38 for 138 yards passing for the Red Wolves.
Arkansas State put together two consecutive scoring drives in the third quarter to trim Nebraska's lead to 28-13. Quashan Lee converted a fumble recovery to a 1-yard touchdown -- Nebraska committed four turnovers in the game -- and Brian Davis followed with a 32-yard field goal.
