2. Southern California (2-0) defeated Syracuse (0-2) 42-29, at East Rutherford, N.J.

3. Louisiana State (2-0) defeated Washington (1-1) 41-3

4. Oregon (2-0) defeated Fresno State (1-1) 42-25

5. Oklahoma (2-0) defeated Florida A&M (0-2) 69-13

6. Florida State (2-0) defeated Savannah State (0-2) 55-0

7. Georgia (2-0) won at Missouri (1-1) 41-20

8. West Virginia (1-0) was idle.

9. South Carolina (2-0) defeated East Carolina (1-1) 48-10

10. Arkansas (1-1) lost to Louisiana-Monroe (1-0) 34-31 (OT) at Little Rock, Ark.

11. Michigan State (2-0) defeated Central Michigan (1-1) 41-7

12. Clemson (2-0) defeated Ball State (1-1) 52-27
