KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Da'Rick Rogers, who led the SEC in receiving last season, has been suspended from the Tennessee Volunteers football team for rules violations.

School officials didn't give details of the violations but said Rogers' long-term status with the team was still to be determined.

Rogers, a junior wide receiver, will miss at least the Aug. 31 Tennessee season-opening game against North Carolina State.

Last season, Rogers led the Southeastern Conference with 67 receptions for 1,040 yards. He scored nine touchdowns. He had 11 catches for 167 yards as a freshman.

Rogers was arrested in 2010 after a fight at a bar in Knoxville and last spring was barred from off-season team activities for unannounced reasons.
